Raw Fleece
Gotland Sheep have one of the most lustrous silky fibers of any sheep in the World
Gotland sheep are native to a small island off the coast of Sweden, called Gotland. They were first brought to the US in 2003.
Gotland wool is fine, long, lustrous and dense. Fleece grows in long, smooth, silky curls, they feel clean, having little lanolin. Gotland wool falls in soft ringlets up to 8 inches long. The locks are ideal for hand spinning, felting and doll hair to list a few uses. The locks have luster and are soft to handle. Once processed for yarn, it is incredibly lofty, soft and luxurious. Due to its low micron count it felts easily, creating a dense, sturdy piece of felt.
Gotland’s are adaptable, curious and super friendly. They love your company and will follow you like a dog. Each one has a unique personality, I have a mother daughter pair that are always starting trouble, one that is a clown, a few that are just super sweet, and a couple that need a little extra direction.
